I think studying should be just for yourself really, I know virtually no one that has a job related to what they've studied! One of my friends from uni (so studied comparative literature like me) decided to start a degree in biological sciences with Open University just because she wanted to do something completely different. So, well done for doing it in first place and I'm sure you'll do great!
