Okay I can't wait any longer.

The Team are in a posh bar, wine, mini burgers, 31 storeys high over London. We're there with iPods, massive headphones on, giggling like mad. Did he just say "thought police"? Oh dear. Haha, the chords are like 'Citizen Erased'. I like that. "It could be wrong, could be wrong." We're making faces at each other, air drumming, jazzhands, completely taking the mickey. WTF IS THIS? 'Undisclosed Desires'? Srsly, stop saying "heart". Damn. Hahaha. We're all loving it. I'm thinking, okay, so this probably isn't going to be the best album in the world, but it's funny. It's fun. I'll probably buy it anyway. 'United States of Eurasia'; we all know it well already and we're all air piano-ing. My mind starts to wander. Muse are having a ball. Lucky bastards. They can just do what they like, can't they? They could just play any old dross and we'd love it. And they know it too - 'Guiding Light' is awful. YUCK. The end's alright though. Why do they insist on these cheesy ballads? Like 'Invincible'. Please, you silly beggars, bring us more pwoper rock! And as if on cue - 'Unnatural Selection'. CHUGGY RIFFS! Haha, I'm loving the 'hey's. Haha. HAY! HAY! Bunch of numpties.
They're so lucky. It's the musician's dream, isn't it? Get in a studio, make outrageous noises, for a laugh. I am SO jealous of these guys. They're OUR age. You know? When they were dreaming about being rockstars, so were we. I still think of them as just the lads, like friends of a friend who's band always gets a step further than you. Gets to support the touring bands. Muse are Better Than You. The middle/end of 'MK Ultra' is fantastic. BREAKDOWN! VOCODER! MINI RAGE RIFF! "We're breaking throoough!" Yes I'm happy. I'll be buying this. I felt a bit by then. I sat back and texted Dave. Told him the album was hilarious, and started thinking about our band. And me, as usual. My life, my issues, the shitness of the last couple of years, how I'm a cleaner and how Muse are my age and they're making this music...
Hang on. Did he just say, "You are my muuuse?" The Team whipped off our headphones and died laughing. So, so funny. That's TOO FAR, MATT. TOO FAR. There were rewinds. Then, lolwat? French? YOU CHEESY, CHEESY GIT. Oh man. A CLARINET?! This shit is so brilliant. We were absolutely guffawing, for serious.
Then silence. Strings.
The Exogenesis Symphony is the best thing I have ever heard any modern rock band come out with. In fact it's probably the best piece of music I've ever heard in my entire life.
All the crap went out of my head and I forgot we were in a room and I stared out at the London skyline and all that was left in my mind was this music. It is everything. Everything I have ever loved about music. Everything I love about Muse but doubled, tripled, and I just felt SO overwhelmed... part one, I'm flying. Actually flying. Part two, I'm running... rushing more than anything, better than any other feeling I've ever felt... It can't get better than this surely?! This HAS to be the end! Part three... is just too much. That feeling you get, when you feel like you're swelling, your organs, lungs, heart, stomach are full of this SOUND... all, like... swelling... oghfnaotw . You're breathless and your head feels stuffed up and you know that if you don't shout or scream or at least let your eyes leak a little bit and release some pressure, you will probably explode. I tried to look at the floor, looked at London, tried to think about the people below who weren't hearing this, clumsy dogs, Smart cars, daddy long legs... silly things to try and make myself laugh... I didn't want people to see I was crying but I don't think anybody even noticed until it was over, The Team captivated by this damn mp3, a tiny little file... and then it was over and I had to scarper to the toilets to grab some tissue and sob my eyes off.
Music is the best thing in the world.
